WAND HISTORY:
Wands were fabled devices of sorcerers and wizards during medieval times. No weapon
of such magical properties had been scientifically proven to exist until your visit
to the Camelot period.
The magic staff used by Merlin supports two types of spells that can be used by anyone
who holds the staff, whether they are trained in sorcerery or not. The primary spell
is a ball of fire which catapults to distances up to 300 yards. The fireball is extremely
potent, and will incinerate those in the vicinity of its landing zone. Archers are
extremely susceptable to fireballs given their smaller size and flammable attire.
The secondary spell is a freezing spiral which defies gravity. Although the spiral
moves very slowly, there is no limit as to how far it can travel. Once it reaches
its target, it dispurses into freezing gases. Most organic forms are paralyzed by
the subzero temperatures of these gases. The targeting error rate of the freeze spell
is poor in comparison to the fireball, but the magic staff can emit three spirals
for every one fireball. A room filled with freezing gases is difficult to escape.
Once the magic of the staff is used up, the staff is deemed useless. A new staff
must be found to obtain these spells again.
A surprising property of the magic staff is its ability to light up the darkest of
areas simply by casting a spell. Both the fireball and the freeze spiral result in
this lighting phenomenon.
