Judging

Each scenario was judged in the following categories:

Completeness (10% of score)
Is the scenario completed? Are all the bugs worked out? Textures aligned? Story completed?
Story (15% of score)
Does the story make sense? Does it relate well to game play? Is it interesting? Is the use of terminals effective?
Architecture (25% of score)
How is the architecture and design of the map? Low points for complexity which doesn't work too well (better to be simple and work good). Of course, high complexity which works good scores highest. How well is the use of scenery, connectivity, negative space, multi-level design, and polygons to create special effects?
Atmosphere (25% of score)
How well does the map strike a mood? This is where use of lighting, textures, and ambient sounds plays a big role.
Engagement (25% of score)
How fun is it to play the map? Does it engage the player? How effective is monster, weapons, and ammo placement? How much work was done on the physics model? Were physics changes effective?
Original Bonus (add-on score)
Levels that were created from scratch just for the contest received 100 bonus points. Levels that were based on a pre-existing EMR level, but altered both in story and architecture, received 50 bonus points.
